Best Firefox Extensions

Firefox logoFirefox is great! Why? Because it has some of the greatest extensions you could think of. I used to be the type of person that completely refused to use Firefox simply because IE6 was more prevalent. I am sure glad a friend of mine talked me into giving Firefox a try because I don’t know where I would be without it. And now for my list of the Best Firefox Extensions known to man… I mean me. (Of course this will be a subjective post but I thought it would be fun to write anyway)

  1. Fast Video Download – This extension allows you to easily save embedded video files from video-hosting servers such as Google Video, iFilm, My Space, YouTube, and several others.
  2. Gmail Notifier – This extension lets you monitor multiple Gmail accounts right inside your browser’s user interface.
  3. Live PageRank – This extension displays Google’s PageRank for the page you are on. Despite having a few glitches this is still a great extension especially if you don’t want to install the Google Toolbar.
  4. Restart Firefox – This extension is named appropriately. It is great for when you install themes or extensions and need to restart Firefox but are not given the option.
  5. Screengrab! – I can’t tell you how many times this extension has come in handy. It will save what you can see in the window, the entire page, just a selection, or a particular frame. It basically saves web pages as images.
  6. StumbleUpon – This is the most fun extension I have come across. You select what categories interest you, hit a button and it takes you to the best-reviewed sites on the web that pertain to the categories selected.
  7. View Source Chart – This extension is simple in features but will save you some headaches and time. It draws a color-coded chart of a web page’s source code. Try viewing the source code of Yahoo.com with and without this extension and you will see what I mean.
  8. Web Developer – If you are a web developer, then this is the extension of all extensions. I can’t describe all of its features but it adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools. If you were only allowed to have one extension installed, then the Web Developer extension would be number 1 on my list!

If you are a fellow Firefox die hard, then please share with me your favorite Firefox extensions so that I may become even more infatuated with this wonderful browser than I already am.
